Bike ride 2/28 - lesser scenic route

Today was a beautiful day outside and Jess and I couldn't pass up the chance to get out and ride today. The only problem is there isn't really any sort of bike trails or even bike lanes on any of the streets around my grandparents house. It makes me realize how convenient the area I live in downtown is to running or biking! Today we went 6.4 miles in 40 minutes. i also decided today that I am going to buy the cadence sensor for my bike to go with Jess' Garmin. On my days off I will be using it when she is at school, and on sundays when we ride together I can just wear it, so we can get even more use out of her toy! I can't wait to get back home and use the bike trail next weekend to see how much farther and faster we can go!

Bike Ride 2/25/2010 - To work and back, The DMV, The credentials

This week I'm watching my grandparents house, so I decided to bring my bike over so I could ride it to and from work, which is about 2.5 miles from their house. The ride this morning was a little cold, but pretty easy, as power inn has a bike lane all the way down it. Once I got to work I noticed I still had a lot of extra energy, which made my work day go by pretty well. My ride home was better, as I was able to get a good pace going and it wasn't quite as cold outside. My total mileage today was just shy of 5 miles, but was good since i didn't get a ride in yesterday on my dayoff. Instead of my bike ride I spend two hours at the DMV getting replacement license plates since someone had stolen my rear plate yesterday.

On another note, my Credential application is officially turned in, I'm not to worried about it, as worrying is not going to change CSUS' decision one way or another. I think this is a somewhat recent trait of mine, not to worry about the things that can effect my life that I have no real control over. I don't know if that makes sense, but in my mind it does. :)

Jess' new bike, and another bike blog from me.

Today Jess bought her bike with her tax return money, the same bike I have, the FX 7.1, but in white. So after getting her bike all set and ready to go we went for a short ride to test it out. I showed her the entrance to the bike trail, which was much easier to get to now that I knew exactly where it was! We went around midtown a bit then headed home, as it started sprinkling a bit. On the way we passed a girl scout with her mom, hauling a wagon full of girl scouts cookies door to door. Neither of us had cash but when we got home I grabbed my cash and sped back down G street towards where we saw her. sadly, I could not find her, as she was either gone because it was raining or because she turned down another street. This added a good 3/4 miles to my trip today bringing me up to 6 today and 11.5 total on my new bike! I still want my girl scout cookies though...

Bike Ride 2/17/10

So this was the first ride on my new bike! The bike was great, but the ride route didn't go as smoothly as I thought it would. I found the best way from the apartment to the bike trail, on 20th and C. Once I got to 20th however, there was construction on the railroad tracks. I took the detour up to D and then down to 19th. Once I turned on 19th there was signs for the bike trail that I followed through the warehouse area and finally onto the trail. Once I got to the trail I rode along until I got to a fork, which from the directions i read last night, said to turn right. The trail entrance however, was not the entrance I had read about last night, and I ended up getting off the trail next to the construction site, where the entrance I read about actually was... At this point i didn't want to ride all the way back around to the second trail entrance so i rode around downtown for awhile. I finally turned back at Brew It Up and took H all the way home.

Total mileage: 5.73 Miles
Time: 48
